Well those of you who have been waiting your whole lives for an official live c.d.,wait no more. Starting with a very 80's cover shot, similar but not identical to the one on back of the first lp, you know your in for something good. Other than two live b-sides and a handfull of one time only radio shows from '82 and '83, there have not been any live recordings issued. The info on the c.d. is annoyingly unannotated in the respect that it does not indicate that it is a live recording. But with the opening of "Modern Love Is Automatic" you are transported to another place and time. This is probablymore… recorded in "82 in the U.K. I would guess due to the toned down, polite applause of the audience. (Unlike the U.S. audiences, who went wild) They hit all the early classics: "Space Age Love Song", "I Ran", "Telecommunication", (early fave) "Man Made", and a somewhat rarely played track, to my knowledge, "Pick Me Up". It sounds like a small intimate venue due to the somewhat muted drums and fairly quiet audience. Not the best live recording I've heard of them but an absolute necessity for anyone who remotely likes the "Seagulls". Hearing them live, they take on a distinctly different feel from the highly polished sound of the studio recordings. The songs have a new energy all their own. All in all, a fantastic c.d.
