I wish to represent those who checked out this album because they heard Dolly Parton was doing a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven." Now, I might not have more covers of "Stairway to Heaven" than anybody else on earth, but with over two dozen I feel confident saying I am in the top 1% of people on the planet. With that claim to ethos I would say that for my money Dolly Parton's version is one of the two or three best I have heard. Replacing the guitar part with a banjo for the main part of the song and a fiddle for the finale works just great. There are some lyrical liberties, but theymore… also work well in the context of this particular version. At the very least, you should check out the song and decide for yourself. Just do not be surprised when you discover you like it.I should also add that there are indeed other songs on the "Halos & Horns" album, including a cover of Bread's "If" that only serves to strengthen your opinion of Parton's cover of "Stairway." Parton has always been an engaging and personable performer, but she has also always taken her work a lot more seriously than she takes herself (which has always been part of her charm). Her fans will certainly flock to this album, but she should also be able to win a few converts this time around as well.
