Where to start... well, the cons I really need to get off my chest:

-OBJECTS - are they JOKING? Both buy and build mode need serious help. The game play is not that much different that you can take players from fully expanded Sims 2 to nothing Sims 3 and expect them to have fun with it. EA needs to pull their heads out of who knows where and give us the content that SHOULD be in the game instead of taking more money for it. "The online game stores are so popular" they say... yeah, with games that are free, not $50 - $70+. Greediness. But they're paying for it with horrible reviews, so get themmore… out there!

-Create a Sim - men's hairstyles?? Yes, all guys have surfer hair or comb-overs. Way to make it true to life. I've made only one guy so far but I imagine the women have just as spectacular (not) of a selection. And for some reason it seems harder to create a good looking sim with the Sims 3. Create a Sim was the demo in the Apple store before the release, and seeing it was my first huge "Uh oh."

-Neighborhood screen editing is ZERO, must be done lot by lot. No more neighborhood deco. No palm tree and beach neighborhoods for us. Haven't stumbled upon how to switch cities either, other than creating someone new in another one... should be a little easier than that. And quite importantly, WHAT GOOD is walking around the neighborhood if half of the buildings you just stay outside and wait anyway?!?! I just use city view until they return home... there's a waste.

-I have significantly better computer parts than suggested... it has crashed twice taking me back solid day of play. Also my career interactions in the city (ex. Business career - "hold meeting" on city buildings) have disappeared.

-Again, better than suggested parts and some graphics seem downgraded from Sims 2 in multiple ways (ex. detail, 3D shape - some flowers look like 2D puzzle pieces interlocked. It's gross.)


And the pros:

-Moodlets are really cool.

-Personality traits + their interactions are much better than the Sims 2.

-Promotions at the same job level.

-More than about time for diagonal objects, goodness.

-umm... the trees move in the wind.


I have loved the Sims to death since the second the very first one came out. I understand a base game leaves room for expansions... but this one is unacceptable. I love taking their horribly decorated/furnished houses and community lots and redoing them from the shell... I was about to do that just now when all the shortcomings of the Sims 3 spilled over and I stopped where I was and quit, and I doubt it will go back on anytime soon. EA has a LOT to fix.
