The last 3 reviews have really hit the nail on the head, however I've given this movie 5 stars for the following reason....

I am a massive fan of the books. I have always enjoyed the movies when they've tried to capture the darker, disturbed side of Bond. (Tim Dalton was nearest for me.) Bond is not a pleasant guy. He is pretty scary and not somebody I'd wanna share a beer with. The books always make you question who the good guys really are. Bond was often threatening to resign. The books have a continuity about them, are not always about high action, and they are often far fetched.

I personallymore… think that Fleming would have loved this Bond. He'd be able to recognise the Bond he created, and forget the Hollywood cartoon version Bond became at times in the past.

These are a different series of films. I don't associate this Bond with previous movie outings.

I loved this movie and I'd be happy for these movies to carry on in this episodic style.
