Description
Somewhere between the lyricism of Metheny and the musicalilty of Frisell appears John Scofield. In many ways a more straight ahead type of jazz guitarist than his compatriots. John Scofield has something distinctive to offer. His improvisations are not as 'obvious' as Martino and he seems to punch notes not pour them out. There is something distinctly electric and metallic in the tone and weight of his melodies.He regularly approaches the Jazz-rock frontier then slips away to some unknown region. Highly addictive.highly recommended.
