In recent years Donald Byrd's soul jazz has become popular for the samplers and the acid jazz crowd. This Blue Note compilation is one which will certainly find an audience, taken from the period where he was turning from the hard bop of albums such as the 1961 Free Form to a funkier groove, but was still very much in a jazz setting. So it should be expected that every track is a sweaty dance number.
