Hopefully this will be the uncut version, and not the 15 Certificate butchered version shown in UK cinemas. There aren't too many good horror movies around, and I was pretty sceptical about this one. I was wrong. It is genuinely scary and pretty unpleasant too. OK, it's the same old story of evil on the other side of a mirror, but it is really well done. Good to see Keifer Sutherland in a role other than Jack Bauer, and he is very good in it too. Lots of jumpy moments, incredibly gory special effects (the bath tub scene is one of the most horrific I have ever seen in a any movie), and the suitablymore… creepy setting of a burned out New York department store. Sutherland (a suspended NYPD cop) takes a job as nightwatchman at the old derelict Mayflower Dept Store. The previous job holder has commited suicide by cutting his own throat extremely graphically with a piece of mirror. Sutherland soon discovers that the mirrors inside the Dept Store hold a ghastly supernatural evil. This evil can manifest itself in any mirror or reflective surface anywhere. Sutherland now has to fight to save the lives of his family by unlocking the secrets inside the mirrors. Full of holes the plot may be, but it scared the hell out of me and the missus!! I certainly won't feel comfortable shaving from now on. Definitely one to watch if you like a decent horror with a great twist ending.
