How many of you have heard of Clarence Carter? You may know his name from the inclusion of 'Patches' or 'Slip away' on a Soul compliation album, but that's really just the tip of the iceberg. If you like Wilson Picket, Eddie Floyd, Otis Redding or Sam and Dave, I can unreservedly recommend this CD.Mr Carter's thunderous vocals and outrageous laugh, backed by one of the best rhythm sections in history produce the best CD I've purchased in many a year.The reissuing of these two early albums captures the very best of this unrecognised soul master.'Looking for a Fox' (My personal favourite) is justmore… one of the classics included of which you will genuinely ask 'why haven't I heard this before?'His unique interpretation of the Percy Sledge ballad 'Dark end of the Street' has to be heard to be believed.'Back door Santa' (complete with Sleigh bells) could just have easily been recorded by Issac Hayes in his Southpark 'Chef' personna.There's not enough room to individualy praise every track, but rest assured, there's no padding on this CD.If you like your Soul music in the Atlantic fashion, this is a must-by and should be ordered immediately.
