Lazy Afternoon was Barbra Streisand's Rupert Holmes album. Holmes, later known for his number one hit "Escape (The Piņa Colada Song)," arranged, conducted, and co-produced the album and wrote or co-wrote four songs. He helped Streisand to continue her evolution into a kind of post-rock contemporary pop artist. This was achieved largely through the sympathetic ballad arrangements, which surrounded Streisand's voice with delicately played individual instruments while focusing on her calm vocals.
