'Live in Gdansk' is a fantastic and gloriously indulgent five disc set for fans of Gilmour and Pink Floyd.

What should have been a celebratory document of what Gilmour described as 'the happiest tour I've ever done' it instead stands as a poigniant but totally fitting tribute to the musical genius of the late Richard Wright.

And what a tribute - this album captures Gilmour and Wright (for what I think must have been one of his very last performances) on absolutely top form.

David's guitar and Rick's keyboards working together is for me something truly magical, they defined the sound of postmore…-Syd Pink Floyd, and it's been captured beautifully on this set.

Gilmour's 'On An Island' album, to me, sounds even better live than the studio version, and their renditions of Pink Floyd classics such as Echoes, Shine On and Fat Old Sun give old songs a wonderful new lease of life.

The sound and picture quality is superb, it's obvious a lot of time and effort has gone into this deluxe package.

The DVD's aren't quite as good as the 'Remember That Night' live at the Albert Hall DVD - still a benchmark on how to produce a live DVD - but this is quibble of atom sized proportions of what still thoroughly deserves to be a five star package.

Album of the year for me.
