Description

Jobim was one of the great composers of the jazz world. He was a fine pianist and guitarist, a superb arranger and was one of the founders of the bossa nova craze, which swept the United States in the early 1960s. Still, it is arguable that most people will not have heard of him, but then they will have heard of at least one of his tracks, "The Girl from Ipanema". Two versions are present here, including the classic with Astrud Gilberto. This is a tune, which no summer should be without and even in the depths of winter can make you feel the Brazilian balmy sun on your soul. For all Jobim's delicatemore… harmonies and skilled structure of his songs his hall mark is the sultriness of his numbers, even when about loss and regret. Also in this collection are "Desafinado" and "Corcovado", both featuring Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto. Here is 60 minutes of hot bossa nova.
