Such an obvious labor of love is hard to criticize. Not only is the packaging beautiful, bound in a book with extensive notes and lush artwork, but Ben Sidran is clearly a devout fan of the late poet Garcia Lorca. But the pianist gets bogged down in too many long-winded monologues about Lorca, how he was killed and what he represented as an artist, and it turns the disc into a collection of sermons over a jazzy vamp. The attempt to incorporate songs by Mose Allison ("Look Here") and Gershwin ("It Ain't Necessarily So") into the theme are clever, but ultimately it's a project that takes itselfmore…
