To be honest, i didn't like the first Fast & Furious film, and I don't know if i'll bother with 2Fast... however, your views of the film should have no influence on your views of the soundtrack. You can tell from the fact that its on Def Jam South and from the music that this album is very much 'Dirty South' influenced music. The first track "Act A Fool" is by one of the film's stars, Ludacris, and is slightly different from his usual work in terms of the beat, but when you listen to it, you realise that his punchline based rhymes are as strong as ever. Luda pops up again in "Pick Up The Phone" a duet with Tyrese, both produced by and featuring R. Kelly. This song rivals and even betters any song on his recent "Chocolate Factory" album with a lovely bouncy beat and infectious hook. Luda's verse is nice too.An obvious standout (and maybe the only song to break away from the 'Dirty South' feel) on the album is the up and coming Joe Budden's "Pump It Up". Won't go into it too much as you've probably heard it, but it really is brilliant.Followed by Dead Prez's "Hell Yeah" where the two politically aware MCs relax and have a bit of fun in the fast-paced Busta Rhymes style of ripping the mic.Other standout tracks are Trick Daddy "Represent", Lil Flip's "Rollin on 20's" and Jin's "Peel Off".To sum up, whether you like the movie or not, this is gonna be one of the hottest albums for the summer, whether your bumping it in your ride or playing it in your house. Pick it up...FAST!
