Post Suggest adding a custom cover section

Hello, I would like to suggest adding a custom cover section.

As a collector of over 2000 DVDs, some of the used DVDS (and Music Cds) are missing their original covers. When the covers are missing I search the web for the missing covers, however sometimes you just can't find it. That's when I will create a custom cover.

Sometimes the custom covers use high grade artwork, other times you just have to work with what you find on-line (and may not be so great). I would rather have a low-res custom cover on my dvd case than NO cover. I beleive your other members would too.

Why not set up custom cover set for registered members only? Make some rules in a sticky, with the posting rules / cover standards, such as;
1) quality required 2) size 3) info/wording that must be present on cover 4) LOW RES Covers will be deleted when Higher Res covers are posted.

Other site members, please post a reply with your opinion.

Glad I found this site, wish it well.

Thanks,
Zappman

Thank you for your suggestion Zappman.
Custom covers have been accepted since the site went live. When uploading you have to choose if the cover is retail version or a custom one.

What exactly is a retail cover. I'm confused with newly pressed cd's.
example Brenda Lee - The collection on AllCDcovers from 2004 and 2cd's.
I've one from 1992 (MCA records) 1 cd with divered cover (not yet uploaded). Is it necessary to include the year in ever coverpart?

I believe they were talking more along the lines of custom DVD covers. I for one LOVE custom covers, and you can check some of my uploads for some awesome quality ones. I print those sometimes over the retail ones I also have for my collection!

Now to answer the question above, a retail cover is one that was/is included with the movie or cd when you buy it from the store. The cover that was supplied from the producers if you will..

Now, custom covers are ones that are made using a different image, etc.. but still look like it could be retail, if that makes any sense

Custom Covers FTW

Hi Team,

Just my thought regarding this topic. I do agree that custom covers can be a blessing when you can't find a good original. With regards to uploading them, they should go into their own section and not in the mainstream. For any true collector, retail is always best. I have over 3500 DVD's in my collection and only have a handful of custom covers.

I agree with Zappman there should be some guidelines as to what is acceptable.

KiwiBandit.

KiwiBandit,
Look for dexta's custom covers, they are what we are looking for in customs.
