Default Blood Sweat & Tears - Blood Sweat and Tears Greatest Hits (2000) Retail CD

Music > Albums > Blood Sweat & Tears - Blood Sweat and Tears Greatest Hits (2000) Retail CD

Blood, Sweat and Tears very successfully explored a niche between jazz and rock and produced some memorable music in the process. They had huge hits with You’ve Made Me So Very Happy, Go Down Gamblin’, And When I Die, Spinning Wheel and Lucretia Mac Evil. But my favourite on this collection is the gentle soulful ballad Sometimes In Winter, a song that perfectly captures a mood of loneliness and regret that I believe is universal. It is atypical of the rest of their output, and very very beautiful. Another band that did the jazz-rock thing was Chicago, but Blood, Sweat and Tears was probably closer to the spirit of rock than Chicago and there’s more variation in these songs. This is an interesting collection of a rare jazz-rock experiment that seems to have died at the end of the 1960s.
