New covers added to Honeymoon - Dialogue (2004) Retail CD
Music > Albums > Honeymoon - Dialogue (2004) Retail CD
added on February 4, 2008, at 15:39 by rabthescot| The Honeymoon return to whisk us away with a full-length album, Dialogue, having already tempted us with their excellent Passive Aggressive EP. They straddle the extremely fine line between credible home-made folk-rock and Corrs'-style pop confectionary. Despite being a principally acoustic album, the layer of production sheen that coats the otherwise gentle songs is undoubtedly a bonus as the muscular sound complements the songs wonderfully. The perfect vocals of Icelandic female singer Thorun Magnusdottir, (occasionally supplanted or augmented by songwriter/ guitarist Wayne Murray) certainly help their cause, and it appears that they may be one of those rare bands that can be heard by everyone. The use of differing instrumentation (the rare use of a svarmandal is a welcome treat in "Chaos Theory") will appeal to those looking for something different, as will the combined vocal harmony--part Gram and Emmylou, part pop perfection. Meanwhile the songs are strong enough to appeal to the casual listener; there's enough commercial appeal to make hits out of "Stay All Night" and "Reconcile" at the very least. --Thom Allott | |
