Default Bobby Darin - Greatest Hits (1995) Retail CD

Music > Albums > Bobby Darin - Greatest Hits (1995) Retail CD
added on June 3, 2007, at 14:43 by Sarge!

Bobby Darin has long been overlooked; a consummate entertainer, he made his name as a teeny-bopper Frank Sinatra with songs like "Dream Lover" and "Splish Splash". Later, he went in a more adult direction with "Beyond the Sea" (tragically missing from this collection) and had his biggest hit with "Mack the Knife" (from the Threepenny Opera), married starlet Sandra Dee, appeared in a number of movies in the 1960s and then died, too early in his late 30s, from a heart condition. Always somewhat of a contradiction, Darin peppered his output with songs that didn't fit with his original image: songs with folk and country sounds, and some with an anti-establishment sentiment. --Randy Silver
