You can take any one of Phish's albums and be astounded at the level to which they play. Picture Of Nectar is a good a place as any to give you an example. Released in 92 this album contains songs that are still live favourites. Phish are well known for their improvised jamming sessions on stage and Stash, Chalkdust Torture and Tweezer give an insight in to how they play live. Some songs can last for upto 20 to 30 minutes. Every song displays their talents to great effect and they make it sound effortless. The lyrics are as mad as the music but still clever and witty. The production keeps the feel of their live status and the whole album displays their musical ability, quirkiness and musical diversity. An excellent place to start for "newbies"
