Default Alanis Morissette - The Collection (2005) Retail CD

I've always been a fan of Alanis Morissette, so naturally, I was impressed with this greatest hits. The first half of the album flows really well. When we get to track 7, however, things start to flow less smothely. Track 7 seems like a randomy placed track since it is an acoustic version of 'Princess Familiar'. Alanis is great at acoustic music, but I feel that this track doesn't quite fit on a greatest hits. Perhaps it should have been a bonus track, or a studio version.Moving on, the final section of the album, doesn't quite fit either. The four soundtrack songs, 'Mercy', 'Still', 'Uninvited' and 'Lets do it (Lets Fall in Love)', are those exact things; soundtrack songs. These are then followed by one of Alanis' best known tracks, 'Hand in my Pocket'. A nice finish to the album but I think the mood changes slightly after listening to the four rather interrupting soundtrack songs. The cover of Seal's 'Crazy' is a great song. I didn't know what to expect from this, as the original is a classic. Alanis has done it justice. Giving it a rather upbeat, dance-like sound, it works very well.Overall, the album is what you'd expect from a greatest hits package. With some strange decisions with the arrangement of the album, I give this 4 out of 5 stars.
