I can't praise this album enough; I can quite easily say it's one of the best I have ever heard. It really is top class music from start to finish and ear candy is certainly the main ingredient here. There is a great variation of songs on this album begining with my favourite of all time, 'Tightrope.' It begins with a very intense symphonic intro which progresses to a top rock song with the string section adding warmth and depth to the overall sound. The production quality is also excellent, for a recording made in 1976 using no digital technology, it really sounds great even compared to todays standards. Also, lyrically this song impresses me, talking about a person who feels like an outsider in this world, trying to find someone to help him understand all of these people who are 'going knowhere making time.' I love it!! From Tightrope, we are led on to a host of brilliantly diverse songs, such as the more popular 'Telephone Line; Rockaria!, So Fine, Mission (A new world record), Above the Clouds, Do ya, Shangri-La, and all time classic Livin' Thing. I'd like to write something about each of these songs, but there is so much to say! All I can do, is to advise you to buy the album as it will blow you away, every song equals in genius. However, it's actually quite hard to buy as it's only available on import. Why? No idea! I thought this album would have been re-mastered like many of the others by now, it could be a case of waiting until the album celebrates it's 30th year and a special limited edition will be released, like ELO and ELO 2 already have. I suppose we'll just have to wait. In the mean time this is the best there is. I'm obviously amazingly bias towards it, but just buy it anyway.
