Default Lara Fabian - A Wonderful Life Retail CD

With the follow-up to her self-titled English album which was arguably one of the best adult contemporary collections of the past 10 years, Lara offers a change of style in sounds and musical arrangements. The first single, "The Last Goodbye", is a very good pop ballad with a catchy chorus and represents quite well the general feel of the album. Many up-tempo pop songs are included here, starting with the opening "No Big Deal" and culminating with the powerful "Conquered", one of the best cuts of the album. "I Guess I Loved You" is the inevitable Barbra Streisand-like emotional ballad that showcases all of Lara's vocal range and stands out along with "Intoxicated", the other big ballad that is guaranteed to touch even the hardest of hearts. A couple of good covers are featured here, LeAnn Rimes' soulful "Review My Kisses" and Black's tender "Wonderful Life", both quite faithful to the originals and nonetheless effective. "I've Cried Enough" and "Silence" are both covers of her French repertoire from the album "Nue", and they're the prelude to "Walk Away", the closing track of the album in which a simple acoustic guitar accompanies Lara's amazing voice singing a gut-wrenching lyrics in a understated and heart-felt manner. A truly good album that will hopefully strenthen and broaden her English-speaking fan base.
