Default Vista

What do you think about Microsoft's Vista operating system?

I know that some people went back to XP after trying Vista, but I like Vista and have been using it for 2 years now. At first, I found that you had to make sure that what ever software and hardware you were installing had to be Vista compatible, or you would get the blue screen of death....I got it once, because the software wasn't compatible even though most websites were saying it was, only 1 website said that it wasn't compatible...I don't have that problem any more and I like Vista and will continue using it.

I use Vista 32 bit Premium on my main desktop and Vista 32 bit basic on my laptop. My older (backup) desktop has XPpro.

You can check out what is Vista compatible by going to this website.

In my opinion, the bad thing about going back to XP is that every time a company buys a load of PC's, they pay for the Windows Vista license that comes with every PC. If they go back to XP, even if they use an old XP license - the Vista license is a waste of money. Microsoft is just automatically earning money for doing nothing. I can't stand that, heh >.<. Oh well. Running dualboot Vista and Ubuntu on my laptop here.. I can't complain (er, I do prefer Ubuntu over Vista).

You bring up a good point saphalon, but sooner or later microsoft is not going to support windows xp, just like windows 95 and 98....
I don't know much about Ubuntu and I've never tried it, but if you prefer it over Vista... than the question is.... why pay for Vista when Ubuntu is freeware?

To be honest, Vista came with my laptop. But to name another reason.. my main one would be that Vista still supports certain applications I cannot run (or only partially) on Ubuntu. This appears to be changing though, more and more applications I use on Windows are becoming available for Linux (or similar ones) =).
