added on November 13, 2008, at 20:42 by pontiaccTony Christie,the little guy with the big voice,pays tribute to the musical talent of Sheffield with this stunning album.The first track,a cover of The Artic Monkeys,'Only the ones who know' is transformed from a rather uninspiring tune into a beautiful melodic ballad by combining a great musical arrangement with strong vocals.
Guy Barker on trumpet and Colin Elliot on piano are excellent on the Human League song 'Louise'.Barely recognisable,it is slowed down to a tender love song guaranteed to soften even the hardest of hearts.
Pick of the album,and current single,'Born to cry,is a masterpiece delivered with such passion against a haunting guitar,this has the potential to be a Christie classic.
If you want to hear songs like 'Amarillo',don't bother with this album.If,however,you want to hear what Tony Christie can really sound like,then this is the album for you. | |
