The physics are great and the controls are good, the addition of the sprint button being a very welcome addition. The dual campaigns playing as US then VC is a nice touch. The enemy AI is challenging and you have some control over your squad mates so you don't get boxed into a corner as sometimes occured in the original. The gameplay itself is great, peeking round corners really pays off and I never encountered one of those situations where they just pour more and more troops at you to make it harder making it genuinely tactical. The house to house FIBUA stuff is very well done as are the jungle sections in the VC campaign.On the negative side the original had far better sound and it's a bit of a mystery to me why they didn't keep this excellent feature in the sequel seeing as they'd already done most of the work. Also I can't seem to find the bayonet so you're denied a melee attack option which wasn't the case in the original.For Any Purple Haze fans, you'll probably want to hold onto to that installation and all your downloaded custom maps as they haven't released the editor for VC2 and the built in maps are limited.
