Dinshah Sethna (Naseeruddin Shah), a potter who is stoned most of the time, and his dissatisfied wife Katie (Dimple Kapadia) live in a small town in India. The rest of the dysfunctional family live in Mumbai--an old father, the younger son and his wife. Cyrus (Saif Ali Khan) moves in with Dinshah and Katie and things slowly start to fall apart.
