I'm currently using Kaspersky and highly recommend it to anyone as it is one of the best antivirus programs that I've ever used...Below is a list of programs that I've used and recommend.
1.Kaspersky
2.Avast!
3.AVG Free
4.AntiVir
Can't vote in this I'm afraid as I only use McAfee and like most things to get the best you have to pay for it (not saying McAfee is the best but it's up there)

Hi Bob,
Nice to see you back.
I also only use McAfee.
But mine is sort of free, but not really.
It comes with the internet service I pay for.

Agree Kaspersky is one of the best antivirus program but once I had installed on my PC 2 different progs, Kaspersky and Dr.Web,and saw the battle of the Titans between these programs (each tried to delete other, as you may know each antivirus program contains a portion of virus code to regognise real viruses when ckecks files) and Dr.Web won. Since that I use it and recommend a free utility from Dr.Web authors 'cureit'. It's free but very effective.

It is a bad idea to have 2 antivirus programs running at the same time, they will always "clash" with each other. Kaspersky even conflicts with some antispyware programs like Spybot Search & Destroy. I'm currently using Kaspersky and Spysweeper and I'm happy with both.

I've tried AVG, but when it comes to downloading programs w/key generators, they were wiped out, so I un-installed AVG altogether. When I purchased my new pc Windoes Vista, the first thig I did was completely un-installed Norton Security. I had done some research, and spoke with alot of people and they all said pretty much the same thing, it takes up to much space on your hard drive. But... to each his/her own. I've found that {Spyware Blaster v4.2 & also Spyware Terminator v2.5.6.316} work good for me. What I would like is a good program for defragging my harddrive. Do you have any reccomendations?

Hello spartan2400,
If you're looking for freeware disk defrag, I use Auslogics disk defrag and have been for years and it is fast and i like it....I use CCleaner and then I defrag...
Those programs you listed are for spyware and I'm currently using Avast! Home Edition and highly recommend it. I used Kaspersky and used it until my 1 year subscription expired a couple of weeks ago, and i used Avast for years before Kaspersky, but I like both...Most people don't like the grey cd player interface including me...Click on menus and select the blue interface which is great...In my opinion and millions of others Avast is the best antivirus program out there, even better than AVG....It has a better real time scanner, scans better and updates automatically...
You are right about Norton and a lot of people disable their antivirus or don't install one and you're luck may run out one day, give Avast a try!

I use ESET NOD32 V3, not let me down once and doesn't use tons of resources like some (Nortons). Reliable and almost daily scheduled updates.
I bought it ;) and only around $30 or so if I remember right.

When it comes to freeware antivirus, I prefer the first 3 on the poll list and I've tried them all except panda.
I've tried a 30 day trial version of Nod32 and liked it and it is one of the best paid anti virus programs available. I was using Kaspersky for 1 year (subscription) and I liked it and may go back to it one day. My Kaspersky subscription ran out and I'm currently using Avast! which is currently my favourite free anti virus program and I've used it for years in the past....

as you use CC for cleaning out your rubbish also try their free defragger as I've
found it fast and thorough. Also the new free Microsoft Security Essentials actually does what it says on the box...amazing it actually works well, is simple to use and unobtrusive.
